History
Formation
The first material LaPlegua wrote was a few powernoise/techno crossover tracks under the moniker DRIVE. The band name was later changed to Combichrist before the debut album The Joy of Gunz was released on the German record label Out of Line. The name Combichrist originates from a hardcore fanzine LaPlegua made during the late 90s, with JR Ewing guitarist Håkon Mella. A few years after the band's conception, LaPlegua departed Norway for the United States, which is now the current homebase for Combichrist and his other projects, Scandy, Panzer AG, Scandanavian Cock and Icon of Coil.
Ængel St. Morte was officially recruited from New York City, by Combichrist on 3 October 2011 to sing back-up/harsh vocals on their next album which is TBA as well as accompany the band for their next North America album tour. LaPlegua commented on an aggrotech interview website stating that, He looks forward to working with the new up and coming artist.
Success
In 2003 Combichrist released the LP The Joy of Gunz. On Halloween 2003 the limited edition EP Kiss The Blade was released, and sold out in weeks.
In 2004, The second EP, Sex, Drogen Und Industrial, spent 7 weeks at number one in the DAC charts. The same time Sex, Drogen Und Industrial was released, a limited edition white-vinyl 12" for Blut Royale was produced, and sold out quickly. 2005 saw the release of Everybody Hates You and it was at this time that the band began labeling their music as "Techno Body Music" or TBM. The band released a song called "This is TBM" on the Out-of-Line compilation Techno Body Music volume 1. The release of Get Your Body Beat in 2006 turned out to be a commercial breakout for the band. In 2007 What the Fuck is Wrong With You People? was released, becoming a best seller for both Metropolis and Out of Line records. Combichrist released Today We Are All Demons on Jan 20, 2009. They have a new percussionist, Trevor Friedrich, formerly of Eighteen Visions and Imperative Reaction, for the tour who was temporarily replaced by Mark Jackson of VNV Nation for part of the 2009 European tour. The band had been selected to support Industrial Metal band Rammstein for their 2009 European tour and continued to support them during the 2010 part of the tour. Currently they are doing a double tour known as "Monsters on Tour Part II" with the same supporting line up of Aesthetic Perfection and iVardensphereas well as Angel Spit on select dates. The tour is scheduled around their support for Rammstein's current North American tour.
Combichrist's song "Shut Up and Bleed" featuring W.A.S.T.E was featured in the horror movie The Collector.
Limp Bizkit's guitarist Wes Borland joined Combichrist in October 2010 for their tour of North America, and has joined them in the studio for recording of new material.[5]
The new album, Making Monsters, has had full tracks available for streaming on the website, each track being rolled out for a new one. Combichrist began a tour in support of the new album in late 2010, with Aesthetic Perfection and iVardensphere as the support bands.[6][7] In 2011, after opening for Rammstein at Madison Square Garden, Combichrist announced they would be supporting the band on their current North American tour and also announced the "Monsters on Tour Part II" taking place around the scheduled Rammstein shows with the same support as the 2010 tour but with Angel Spit also performing on select dates.
CombiChrist's song Never Surrender was featured in a gameplay demo of the upcoming horror video game DmC Devil May Cry.

Videography
As of March 2011, the band has recorded seven promo videos.
- The first, "Blut Royale" (from the album Everybody Hates You) directed by Sandra Jensen, was completed in 2005, but release was delayed until 2007. The reason for the delay is currently unknown, but a seemingly rough-cut 'first version' of the video was posted on June 1 on Youtube by the director.
- The second was for "Get Your Body Beat" (first heard on the "Get Your Body Beat" single and later the What the Fuck is Wrong With You People? album,) was directed by Agata Alexander and features scenes from the biopunk film The Gene Generation from director Pearry Teo. This video may be viewed on YouTube.com as well as the band's official website.
- The third video is for the track "Electrohead" from the What the Fuck is Wrong With You People? album. The band posted a bulletin on their website and myspace, "We will be shooting a video for "Electrohead" on Friday February 2, in Los Angeles, at Das Bunker. If you want to be a part of the video, dress hot or "crazy", and show up early. We expect to see all of the So Cal CC Army out for this. Doors open at 10pm." However, after reviewing the material shot during the performance, the footage was found too dark to use due to the venues poor lighting. The band then opted to re-shoot the live video portion in North Carolina. 'Electrohead' was officially released on June 10, 2007 via Myspace video.
- On May 7, 2007 LaPlegua posted the band's new video "Deathbed" (from the What the Fuck is Wrong With You People? album,) on his livejournal and on YouTube.com. This time the video was filmed and directed by LaPlegua with help from Agata Alexander who also directed the 'Get Your Body Beat' video.
- The fifth video is for the track "Fuck That Shit" from the album What the Fuck is Wrong With You People? The video was animated and directed entirely by Brandon Duncan of corporatedemon.com. After viewing Duncan's online portfolio, LaPlegua quickly asked Duncan to animate the video. The video was initially posted through YouTube on the official Combichrist MySpace page, but a much higher quality version has since been posted at http://corporatedemon.com/12/09/2007/combichrist-fk-that-st/.
- The sixth video was for "Sent To Destroy" Directed by Robyn Von Swank and featured appearances by the popular movie actor, Bill Moseley.
- On 14 February with the release of the Throat Full of Glass single, the video will also be released. The American copy of the single has the "clean" version of the video. The European copy contains the 'Dirty' version.
