Midland Railway Class 2F 0-6-0

The Midland Railway 2F was a class of 0-6-0 steam tender locomotive built for freight work. It was designed by Samuel W. Johnson and introduced in 1875. Many of these locomotives were rebuilt by Henry Fowler from 1917 with Belpaire firebox.

Many of them passed into LMS ownership in 1923 and into British Railways ownership in 1948. Some lasted in service until the late 1950s, by which time they were the oldest locomotives in regular service on British main lines. British Railways numbers were 58114-58310 (with gaps)
