- Hollyford River
The Hollyford River is located in the southwest of the
South Island ofNew Zealand . It runs for eighty miles inFiordland , its source being ten kilometres to the north of the northern tip ofLake Te Anau and close to theHomer Tunnel .The river flows north through the
glacier -formed Hollyford Valley, passing throughLake McKerrow before reaching Martins Bay on the coast of theTasman Sea 25 kilometres north ofMilford Sound . TheHollyford Track follows the river's course.Part of the river's course is traditionally regarded as the boundary between the Southland and
Otago regions.Kayaking
Kayaking on the hollyford occurs where the river follows the Milford and Hollyford roads. Three sections are regularly paddled.
