The Coronas are an Irish four-piece rock-indie-alternative band from Terenure in Dublin. They have released one album, "Heroes or Ghosts" (2007). The album features the hits, "San Diego Song" and "Grace, Don't Wait!".

Background

The band formed when the members were just 15. The band was initially known as "kiros" Fact|date=January 2008 but changed its name three years later to "Corona" (named after a typewriter brand), but when the Italian dance act Corona re-emerged, the band changed their name again to "The Coronas".Fact|date=January 2008.

Danny O'Reilly (son of legendary Irish vocalist Mary Black), Conor and Knoxy hail from Terenure in Dublin, which is home to fellow Irish artists Republic of Loose and Rob Smith. Dave hails from Monkstown in Dublin.

To date the Coronas biggest hit has been "San Diego Song" which has been in the Irish Singles Chart for 24 weeks [http://www.irma.ie/aucharts.asp] .The band's debut album "Heroes or Ghosts" was released on October 5 2007, debuting at #21 in the Irish Albums Chart [http://www.irma.ie/aucharts.asp] , and was described by "Hot Press" as "walking a soulful line between Jeff Buckley and the Libertines” and has been lodged in the Irish charts since its release.Fact|date=January 2008

The Coronas have appeared on RTE's "Late Late Show", "The Cafe" and "The Podge and Rodge Show", TV3's event guide, Channel 6's "Popscene" and numerous radio shows. The band won the Jack Daniels Set, showcasing new bands, in 2006.Fact|date=January 2008

In 2008 the Coronas were nominated for a Meteor Award, in the Best Irish Pop Act category. The award was won by Westlife, on February 15 2008.

On March 8 2008, they played their biggest headlining gig to date at the 1,300 capacity Ambassador Theatre in Dublin.
