Colona Township is one of twenty-four townships in Henry County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2000 census, its population was 6,699^[1]. Colona Township changed its name from Green River Township on April 13, 1857.

According to the United States Census Bureau, Colona Township covers an area of 30.17 square miles (78.1 km²); of this, 29.38 square miles (76.1 km²) (97.39 percent) is land and 0.79 square miles (2.0 km²) (2.61 percent) is water.
