David attended rugby keen school Iona College.He primarily plays in the back row but he has also played wing and centre. He previously played for Easts Tigers in the Queensland Cup. He played on the wing and scored two tries in their first match of 2007, which was a victory over the Wynnum-Manly Seagulls.
In 2006, he was selected for the Queensland Under 19s side, secured a contract with the South Sydney Rabbitohs and won the Carbine Club "Colt of the Year" at the Queensland Rugby League South East Division Awards.[1]
In round 18 of 2009 he made his debut for the Rabbitohs against the Penrith Panthers. In his second game, against the Brisbane Broncos, he scored a try.[2] He also bears very similar resemblance to late Australian actor Heath Ledger.
