Born in Wakefield, he currently plays as a prop for Leeds Rhinos having previously been on loan to Quins RL and Doncaster RLFC. He made his first appearance for Leeds in defeat at Castleford Tigers in March 2008.

He is the older brother of Bradford player Sam Burgess.
