The amusement park closed in 1938.On September 15, 1912, a tornado swept through the park, destroying 40 homes and arguably contributing to the eventual closure of the amusement park due to the damage.

In the summer of 2006, Long Branch Park was expanded to include the addition of a small sub-park with paved walkways, a parking area and children's playground.
