Niall Patterson (born 2 January 1962 in Cloughmills, County Antrim) is a retired Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Loughgiel Shamrocks and with the Antrim senior inter-county team from 1979 until 1992.

Inter-county

By the late 1980s the Ulster Senior Hurling Championship was revived, with Patterson's Antrim side winning the title in 1989. Antrim subsequently went on to shock the hurling world by defeating Offaly by 4-15 to 1-15 in the All-Ireland semi-final. In another remarkable day for Ulster hurling, the Antrim team were accorded a guard of honour by Offaly following the game. Antrim subsequently met Tipperary in the All-Ireland final, their first appearance in the championship decider since 1943, however, the side were well beaten.[1]
