Eugene Louis (Gene) Handley (born
November 25 ,1914 ) is a former backupinfielder inMajor League Baseball who played for the Philadelphia Athletics from 1946-47. Handley batted and threw right-handed. Born inKennett, Missouri , he is the younger brother ofLee Handley .In a two-season career, Handley was a .252 hitter (86-for-341) with 10 doubles, six triples, 41 runs, 29 RBI, and nine
stolen base s withouthome run s in 125games played .Gene left the playing field to later become a scout for the Chicago Cubs. He remained active in that capacity into his 80s.
