Manycore processing unit

Manycore processing unit

A many-core processing unit is a type of microprocessor-based system characterized by:
* multiple standard instruction set microprocessor cores,
* where the number of cores is higher than what is available in computers built for mass market personal computer market.

For example, in 2008 Quad Core CPUs are becoming mainstream. During this time, a single computer system with 16 cores would be considered a Manycore system.
