Hickman Mills is a neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri. It was located on the Three Trails (Santa Fe Trail, California Trail, and Oregon Trail). It is located in the southern part of the city and at one time was also a separate community until it was annexed by the city of Kansas City, Missouri in 1961. Most of the houses in the area where built in the early to mid 1950s and 1960s. The area includes Bannister Mall and other shopping centers, but has seen a decline in the past few years, with many of the places vacant. There is good access to the Interstate System, with two major Interstates I-435 and I-470 running through the area, including the Grandview (now called Three Trails) Triangle. It also includes Longview Lake and Longview Community College. In 1957 the Ruskin Heights Tornado ripped through the area, before hitting Ruskin Heights. It is covered by the Hickman Mills C-1 School District.
