Newport Township is a township in Lake County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2000 census, its population was 4,142.^[1] It includes the villages of Wadsworth, Old Mill Creek, Millburn, Russell, small portions of the Villages of Gurnee and Antioch, and a very small portion of the city of Zion.

Geography

Newport Township covers an area of 33.18 square miles (85.9 km²); of this, 0.3 square miles (0.78 km²) or 0.9 percent is water. Lakes in this township include Sterling Lake. The streams of Mill Creek, North Mill Creek and Pettibone Creek run through this township.
