U.S. state ofIllinois . It was formerly known as Fox River Valley Gardens. Fox River Valley Gardens' village board voted 4-3 in September 2002 to change the community's long-winded name to Port Barrington. Supporters said they hoped the name change would boost property values by associating it with other nearby Barrington area communities. The population was 788 at the 2000 census.Geography

United States Census Bureau , the village has a total area of 1.1square mile s (2.8km² ), of which, 1.0 square miles (2.5 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.3 km²) of it (9.26%) is water.Demographics
As of the
census GR|2 of 2000, there were 788 people, 295 households, and 233 families residing in the village. Thepopulation density was 805.0 people per square mile (310.5/km²). There were 320 housing units at an average density of 326.9/sq mi (126.1/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.59% White, 0.51% African American, 1.02% Asian, 0.13% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 0.51% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.79% of the population.There were 295 households out of which 38.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.2% were married couples living together, 4.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.0% were non-families. 16.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 2.99.
In the village the population was spread out with 26.8% under the age of 18, 3.3% from 18 to 24, 43.3% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 6.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 96.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.9 males.
The median income for a household in the village was $83,508, and the median income for a family was $88,700. Males had a median income of $66,346 versus $38,942 for females. The
per capita income for the village was $41,284. About 1.2% of families and 2.5% of the population were below thepoverty line , including 3.1% of those under age 18 and 2.2% of those age 65 or over.References
