Ingleside is an unincorporated community in Lake County, Illinois, United States. Ingleside is between Fox Lake and Round Lake Heights.

Geography

Ingleside is on Squaw Creek ( Also called Indian River ) between Long Lake, Duck Lake, and Fox Lake.

Ingleside lays below the Long Lake Dam and above Fox Lake. Duck lake and most of the Long Lake area are part of Ingleside. Ingleside also goes northwest to Lake Villa Illinois. Ingleside has a active modern train station, The Ingleside Post Office. The Old Grant Township hall, The Long Lake Dam, And The Fox Lake bike trail.

In the 1960s mammoth bones were found here. They are on display at the Lakes Region Historical Society Museum in Antioch Illinois.

In 2008 The Long Lake Dam was rebuilt and modernised. The dam was built in 1930 and reinforced in 1968 and 2008. The Long Lake Dam allows the control of water flowing from Long Lake to Fox Lake. Also the dam allows pleasure boat traffic from Long Lake to the rest of the Chain of Lakes.

Demographics

Megan Duffy, a 21 year old student and marathon runner who currently is attending Denison University in Granville, OH, hails from Ingleside.

Governor William Stratton (February 26, 1914–March 2, 2001), 32nd Governor of Illinois (1953-1961), was born in Ingleside Illinois. Governor Stratton was Illinois longest serving governor.

The William G. Stratton Lock and Dam on the Fox River near McHenry, Illinois and William G. Stratton State Park on the Illinois River in Morris, Illinois and the William G. Stratton State Office Building in Springfield, Illinois are all named after Governor Stratton.

Illinois's longest serving governor was James Thompson, who was elected in 1976, and left office after the 1990 election. Stratton served two terms, which several other governors have also done. What a joke Wikipedia is.
