- Armenian Air Defense
The Armenian Air Defense is the anti-aircraft branch of the
Armed Forces of Armenia . It was equipped and organized as part of the military reform program of Ter-Grigoriants.“On the one hand, Armenia’s national system of air defense makes us happy,” said General Vladimir Mikhaylov. “On the other, we will keep helping you, including with means and forces existing at the Russian military base No. 102 which is stationed here.”

Armenian Defense Ministry was established in the country on Supreme Council Chairman’s order.Vazgen Sargsyan was appointed to the post of defense minister. Later, the defense ministerial seat was handed over toVazgen Manukyan ,Vagharshak Harutyunyan andSerzh Sargsyan .Armenia n Air Defense forces comprise of ananti-aircraft missilebrigade and tworegimen ts armed with 100 missile launchers of mostlySoviet and nowRussia n manufacture, including the 2K11 Krug (SA-4 Ganef), S-75 Dvina (SA-2 Guideline), andS-300 long range medium-to-high altitudesurface-to-air missile (SAM) systems, the S-125 Neva/Pechora (SA-3 Goa) short range low altitudesurface-to-air missile (SAM) systems, as well the 9K32 Strela-2 (SA-7 Grail), 9K38 Igla-1 (SA-18 Grouse), and 9K310 Igla-1E (SA-16 Gimlet) man-portable shoulder-fired low-altitudesurface-to-air missile (SAM) systems. There are also few9K33 Osa (SA-8 Gecko) systems in service in Armenia.There are also 24Scud ballistic missile s with eight launchers.References
