Courtney Brown, Ph.D. is a social scientist at Emory University and is known for promoting the use of nonlinear mathematics in social scientific research. He is also known as a proponent of remote viewing, a form of extra-sensory perception explored by DIA and CIA and then abandoned in 1995 when it was partly declassified.^{[citation needed]}

Remote viewing

Brown's research has received notable positive reviews from other advocates of psychic powers such as Fred Alan Wolf, William A. Tiller, and Daryl Bem.^{[citation needed]} His claims have been dismissed by other scientists, such as his colleague Scott O. Lilienfeld, and he has refused to subject his ideas and his own purported psychic powers to independent scientific testing on what Lilienfeld describes as "curious" grounds.^[1] By contractual agreement with the university, Brown is not permitted to mention his affiliation with Emory during interviews about remote viewing.^[2]

Among other assertions, Brown says he has conversed with Jesus Christ about various topics.^[2]

Other training

Brown learned the basic Transcendental Meditation and an advanced technique called the TM-Sidhi program in 1991. He engaged in Yogic Flying at the Golden Dome of Pure Knowledge at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa in 1992.^[3]
