Buildings
The school originally opened in 1986 at Grange Street in Stratford [Now Jeanne Sauvé Elementary School] ,
Ontario . It celebrated its first commencement ceremony in 1990.For the 1993-1994 school year, the school moved into its current location at 240 Oakdale Avenue, adjacent to the S.E.R.C. site, and
Northwestern Secondary School - which St. Michael is attached to through their shared library. One of the more distinctive aspects of the school was its combination Cafeteria/Auditorium (affectionately labeled the "Cafetorium" by students and faculty). It is formally named Eckert Hall in honour of Willam Eckert - the superintendent of education during construction of the school.
The 2000-2001 school year brought the school additional facilities, with the construction of the "B-Wing" or "Tech Wing". Along with additional classroom space, it included a much-improved wood shop area, as well as space for automotive work. These new facilities finally allowed the school to offer a full complement of technology courses, whereas students were once sent to
Northwestern Secondary School for tech related courses. As of 2006, another addition has been built which includes, among other things, a second gym, a fitness room, and additional science classrooms. It is set to open in the 2007-2008 school year.
