Boggabri, New South Wales

Boggabri is a small town on the Kamilaroi Highway in north-western New South Wales, Australia in Narrabri Shire Council, between Gunnedah and Narrabri. Its population lies around 1000.

The name "Boggabri" comes from Gamilaraay "bagaaybaraay", literally "having creeks". The same "creek" element is found in the name of Boggabilla.

The Namoi river passes through Boggabri. Fishing is a popular activity on the Namoi river.

Boggabri's main tourist attraction is Gin's Leap, so-called after a story of an Aboriginal girl who jumped from the cliff while trying to escape a group of men in the 17th or 18th century.

There are two local primary schools in Boggabri; one public and the other religious. Boggabri is also home to the 'John Prior Multi Purpose Health Service', a state of the art medical center named after one of Boggabri's most prominent residents, Dr John Prior.
