Iowa Highway 96 begins at IA 14 southwest of Conrad. It heads directly eastward from this point, passing through Gladbrook to the east. Further east of Gladbrook and west of Traer, the highway terminates at an intersection with US 63.
History
At the time of designation, IA 96 was an unpaved spur from Gladbrook eastward to the old
Iowa Highway 59 (presently US 63). On December 1, 1930, it was extended westward to its current terminus at IA 14. This new extension was paved in 1948, with the remaining segment paved by 1955.Major intersections
