- Write Angle
Write Angle was a global screenwriting contest organised by Sulekha.com and B4U Television and co-sponsored in the US by
MetLife . It was a pioneering effort to battle the dearth of original screenplays in the Hindi film industry. According to its sponsors, the contest was a tremendous success, attracting more than 1800 entries from 50 countries. The prize money of $5000 was the largest amount ever awarded for a writing competition in India.The contest opened on November, 2001 and closed on June, 2002.

Write Angle's panel of judges were the following movie-makers —
Shyam Benegal ,Javed Akhtar ,Mahesh Bhatt ,Mira Nair ,Tanuja Chandra ,Farookh Dhondy ,John Matthew Mathan ,Honey Irani andSantosh Sivan .Winners
The winner of the contest was
Praveen Madhukar Naik for his romantic comedy "Indian Beauty". The runners-up wereRajan Iyer for his world war drama "The Trenches" andAnand Sivakumaran for his comedy of errors titled "Ye Shadi Nahi Ho Sakti". The winners were felicitated byShyam Benegal ,Javed Akhtar andDolly Thakore at a press event in November, 2002. None of the winning entries however, have been made into films so far.External links
