Daniel Jouanneau (born September 15, 1946) in Vendôme (Loir-et-Cher) is a graduate of the École Nationale d'Administration and former French Ambassador to Canada, after being appointed to the position in 2004 until 2008. As of April 2009, he serves as France's ambassador in Pakistan.
Education
He completed his studies at Lycée Ronsard, at the Institut d'études politiques and at the Faculty of Law of the University of Paris. He is an alumnus of the École Nationale d'Administration, holds a master’s degree in Public Law and is a former student of the "Ecole nationale d’Administration".
Career
Daniel Jouanneau began his career in the Minister of Foreign Affairs (France) in 1971. He alternated between foreign postings and positions at the headquarters. In Paris, he was in charge of European affairs on numerous occasions (legal affairs department, political affairs department, Europe department, financial and economic affairs department). He was Chief of Protocol for the last two years of President François Mitterrand’s term, and for the first two years of President Jacques Chirac’s presidency. Before his nomination to Canada, he was Inspector General of Foreign Affairs.
Daniel Jouanneau served in Egypt (Press Counselor), in Guinea (Chief of the Cultural and Cooperation Mission), in Zimbabwe as Chargé d'Affaires. He was Ambassador to Mozambique and then Ambassador to Lebanon and in Canada.
Daniel Jouanneau presented his credentials to the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, on October 31, 2008.
Holding his Masters Degree in Law, Jouanneau previously served as Ambassador to Lebanon, Mozambique, Lesotho and Swaziland.[1] [2]
