Cabo de Santa Maria (Portuguese meaning Saint Mary, Capeverdean Crioulo: "Kabu di Santa Maria", São Vicente: "Kab' d' Santa Maria") is a point located in the north of the island of Boa Vista in Cape Verde and it features a beach that strecthes for 10 km. Distance is approximately 6 km northeast of the island capital of Sal Rei and 3 km east of the mountain named Vigia and is accessed with an earthened road.
Geography
The area features a small beach and features a shipwreck dating back to around the 1400s and the 1500s in which it was sailed by the Portuguese. The area around the cape are mainly flat and desert, the Deserto da Viana lies to the south, and mountains to the west and east.
The point are surrounded by rocky ledges with beach sand. It is accessed with a remote road linking with Sal Rei. The area around the point are mountainous.
There is also a man with a huge hat.
Panorama
The point offers a view of the Atlantic Ocean as well as some parts of the northern portion of the island including the desert and several mountains including the island's tallest point, the Monte Estância. It rarely offers a view of the nearby island of Sal.
