Vigia (Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEC: "Vijia" also in the São Vicente Crioulo) is a volcanic mountain in the northwestern part of the island of Boa Vista. The mountain is accessed with a remote road linking with the island capital of Sal Rei.

Geography and Information

The mountain is of volcanic origin and is approximately 160 m in elevation. The mountain are made up of rocks with soil colours being tan and light brown. The mountain contains rugged slopes and ledges in its valleys, the mountains are not as treacherous. The mountain is mainly desert-like and it features some grasslands and bushes in the lower areas. The area has several mountains in the area of approximately 5 km² and is 3 km long and approximately 2 km wide.

The island's northwesternmost lighthouse is to the west by the cliffy coastline and is accessed with a road in poor condition linking with Sal Rei.

The area contain a small cave known as Rotchinha and a plain filled with palm trees.

Panorama

The mountain offers a panoramic view of northern and the western parts of the island except for the eastern and southern parts which is blocked by a few mountains since the mountain elevations are lower than the northern and the southern islands, it also offer views of the island of Sal but rarely Maio can be viewed.
