Frank Philbrick (born
May 23rd ,1978 inNorthampton, Massachusetts ) is a former professionalbaseball player turnedauthor . Philbrick co-authored his first book, "The Backyard Lumberjack", alongside his father,Stephen Philbrick , in2006 .After graduating from
Brown University in the spring of2001 , Philbrick signed a professional baseball contract for $750 per month with theAlbany-Colonie Diamond Dogs of the independentNortheast League [Crossman, Nate. Later that summer, Philbrick was released, but continued his career with theBerkshire Black Bears , who made their home at historicWahconah Park inPittsfield, MA . In the spring of2002 , Philbrick made the difficult decision to end his pitching career after an unrewarding experience in theFrontier League .
