The territory of Pozsega county became part of the
Kingdom of Hungary in the 12th century. Pozsega county was re-established after it was liberated from Ottoman occupation in the late 17th century. In 1918 (confirmed by theTreaty of Trianon 1920), the county became part of the newly formedKingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (Yugoslavia).
