National Geographic as well as other magazines, advertising agencies, and graphic design firms. His clients includeSports Illustrated ,ESPN magazine ,Life magazine ,Time magazine ,Fortune magazine ,New York magazine ,Geo , theNew York Stock Exchange ,Target stores ,Sony ,General Electric ,Nikon ,Lehman Brothers , andPNC Bank . He has also worked on numerous Day in the Life photographic book projects.He has taught at the
Eddie Adams Workshop ,National Geographic Society ,Smithsonian Institution ,Rochester Institute of Technology ,Syracuse University ,Maine Photographic Workshops , U.S. Department of Defense, andDisney Institute .One of McNally's largest projects, "Faces of Ground Zero," was a response to the September 11, 2001, tragedy at New York's World Trade Center. McNally has been described by American Photo magazine as perhaps the most versatile photojournalist working today and was listed as one of the hundred most important people in photography.
In January 1999 Kodak and Photo District News honored McNally by inducting him into their Legends Online archive. In 2001 Nikon bestowed a similar honor when McNally was placed on NikonNet.com's list of Legends Behind the Lens.
He has received the
Alfred Eisenstadt Award for magazine photography and has been honored by Pictures of the Year International,World Press Photo , and theArt Directors Club . He has also been recognized by the magazinesPhoto District News ,American Photo ,Applied Arts magazine, Communication Arts, andGraphis .Books
