Omnidrive was founded in late 2004 and launched at the Web 2.0 Conference in San Francisco in early November, 2006.[1] The company was founded by Nik Cubrilovic[2] and Geoff McQueen[3] (who left the company shortly after it was founded) and raised $800k in seed funding[4]
Omnidrive had development offices in Wollongong, Australia and Trivandrum, India as well as a small office in Palo Alto, California.
With the free account users could upload up to 1 GB of Files. The size of files was not limited. The company website was shut down in late April 2008 after it failed to renew its domain name and the service stopped working, however in August 2008 it appeared online, with no official closure message.
Omnidrive was officially closed in September of 2008[5]
Website Capacity
Due to its popularity, the website received heavy server load and often had problems. On March 16, 2008, the website announced it is currently not taking any new members until April, when the website's capacity is expanded. As of May 2008, this sign up page still referred to the same April date.
