Garfield and Friends ". It originally aired onSeptember 23 ,1989 .Episode recap
Garfield wakes up one morning and learns that it’s Monday, a discovery made worse when Nermal comes to visit. Garfield then tries to get rid of him by selling him to Abu Dhabi (again); Jon quickly puts a stop to that
plan . Nermal then asks Garfield to tell her a story, and Garfield settles on his own version of "Hansel and Gretel ."
Hansel and Gretel are running home exactly because of thebear living in the forest. Their father tells them to get food themselves and the kids run into a candy store.
Hansel and Gretel begin eating the store, and the bear was still there because he is going to eat Hansel and Gretel. At this point in the story, Nermal gets upset by what’s happening, and Garfield explains that it’s only a story, notreal life . He then continues the story by stating that the bear invites Hansel and Gretel into the house and opens his mouth to eat them, but they close the bear's mouth and pepper the bear's nose. Nermal becomes completely traumatized by this.
Jon comes up and orders Garfield to stop making Nermal so upset, so Garfield changes the story by stating that instead of closing the bear's mouth, they order a "lot" of pepper to fill the bear's nose with. Hansel and Gretel's father congratulates his kids. He also takes home the remains of the store for Hansel and Gretel to eat. Garfield expects Nermal to be satisfied with this ending, but she isn’t because the bear had such badluck . Garfield then states that the bear got sick and never disturbed Hansel and Gretel again, which finally pleases Nermal. Garfield then quips that it's hard to please kids though it's only a story, but afterwards he rips off a chunk of the wall and devours it.Notes
