2× ANBL All Star (2005, 2006)Mike Helms (born December 29, 1982 in Detroit, Michigan, U.S.) is an American basketball player who played guard at Oakland University. He was named to the Mid-Continent Conference All-League team three years in a row and the Mid-Con Conference Player of the Year in 2003. He averaged 27 points per game that year, which placed him as the third highest scorer in NCAA Division I.
He was drafted into the CBA and played 18 games for the Michigan Mayhem and also had a spell with Atletico Argentino Junin in Argentina
He played for the Hunter Pirates of the Australia National Basketball League in 2005-06 and was second in NBL scoring at 22.1 points per game (ppg). After the license of the franchise was sold, he moved to the new Singapore Slingers. In February 2007 he joined the German team Gießen 46ers.
In the 07/08 season in the NBL, Helms was in the top 20 in the league for scoring averaging 20.6 ppg. For Giessen, Helms averaged 7.83 ppg and 1.17 assists in his short stint.
In the 08/09 season Helmes joined Ironi Ramat Gan from Israel.
On April 4, 2010, Helms signed with new New Zealand NBL franchise, the Southland Sharks.
