Rastina (Растина) is a village in
Serbia . It is situated in theSombor municipality, in theWest Bačka District ,Vojvodina province. The village has aSerb ethnic majority and its population numbering 566 people (2002 census).Name
In Serbian, the village is known as "Rastina" (Растина), in Croatian as "Rastina", and in Hungarian as "Rasztina".
History
It was first mentioned in the 14th century as "Harasti" during the
Hungarian Kingdom . During Ottoman rule (16th-17th century), Rastina was populated by ethnicSerbs . In the first half of the 19th century, it was a possession of BaronRedl . In the second half of the 19th century, Rastina was not regarded as separate settlement, but as part ofStanišić , while until the end of theSecond World War , it was regarded as part ofRiđica . It was officially proclaimed a separate settlement after World War II. AfterWorld War I , Rastina was settled by volunteers fromLika andHerzegovina .Historical population
