Yahiko Shrine beneath Yahiko Mountain

Yahiko (弥彦村, Yahiko-mura^?) is a village in Nishikanbara District, Niigata, Japan.

It is the only village left in its district after the two towns from the same district merged into the city of Tsubame on March 20, 2006. Yahiko lies on the south side of Mt. Yahiko. This mountain and nearby Mt. Kakuda, stand alone on the Japan Sea coast not far from Niigata City.

As of November 1, 2010, the village has an estimated population of 8,800. The total area is 25.22 km², and a density of 348.93 persons per km².
