Henry VIII 'sdissolution of the monasteries in thesixteenth century , the land passed to the Kemeys family. It remained in their possession until1951 , when it and its grounds were compulsorily purchased by the local authority in order to build the large estates that can be seen there today. The area hosts Llanrumney Hall, nowadays a reputedly haunted
pub . It is believed to have been the home of the pirateCaptain Henry Morgan , born there in 1635.Henry Morgan then went to Jamaica, and named a place in St Mary, Llanrumney. Its still called exactly that today, Llanrumney in Jamaica!

Cardiff Bus routes 49/50 from Central Station via Newport Road serves the heart of Llanrumney, terminating at Countisbury Avenues Shopping Parade. Route 101 travels between Llanrumney and Heath Hospital.
