November 17 ,1942 in Warren,Pennsylvania ) is an American physical geologist and planetary scientist. Kieffer is known for her work on thefluid dynamics ofvolcano es,geyser s, andriver s, and for her model of the thermodynamic properties of complexmineral s. She has also contributed to the scientific understanding ofmeteorite impacts.Kieffer is currently a Professor of
