New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences
The New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences is the largest of the colleges housed on the ASU West campus. The College of Teacher Education and Leadership focuses on training future teachers for leadership position in schools and school districts. The College offers both the
Bachelor of Arts in Education andM.Ed. degrees in Elementary Education, Secondary Education and Special Education. In addition, the College offers a doctoral program leading to theEd.D. in Educational Leadership and Innovation.chool of Criminology and Criminal Justice
The ASU School of Criminology and Criminal Justice is housed within the College of Human Services, and awards the
B.S. ,M.S.C.J. andPh.D. in Criminal Justice. In 2009, this school will be relocated to the ASU Downtown campus.History
Construction of what is now known as the West Campus began in 1986, with the first permanent buildings completed by 1989. Two years later, all of the current buildings were completed.
As its inception, the West campus was designed to offer only upper-level undergraduate courses; however, in 2001, it became a four-year college allowing students to complete their entire education on the campus. In the years since 2001, the academic structure of the campus was reorganized to highlight its interdisciplinary focus, and to facilitate the moving of several graduate programs to the campus.
