Cape Paterson is a cape and town in Gippsland, Victoria (Australia). The cape was named by Lieut. James Grant in 1801, honouring explorer Lieut. Col. William Paterson.At the 2006 census, Cape Paterson had a population of 674.

Cape Paterson is a small fishing and holiday town which has a large influx of campers during the summer months. Cape Paterson had a Post Office from 1969 to (probably) 1975 which was open only during summer. Citation
