Parkview High School, "Home of the Panthers" is located in Lilburn, Georgia in Gwinnett County.

History

The early 1970s saw Gwinnett County lead the country in growth. This phenomenal growth rate produced overcrowding in the school system leaving South Gwinnett High School and Berkmar High School too crowded to accommodate students. In 1975, construction began on a new school. With a clear view of Stone Mountain Park, the school assumed the name of Parkview. Today, the once uninterrupted view no longer exists. New neighborhoods, businesses, and trees have since obstructed the view. A panther was chosen as school mascot and orange and white became the school colors winning out over the very popular blue. The doors opened in 1976 with Principal Bartow Jenkins at the helm.

The school expanded, both physically as well as in number of students, until it was filled above capacity in the early to mid- 90s. Parkview eventually took over the then adjacent middle school, Trickum Middle School, to make more room for itself during the 2006-2007 school year. Many classes moved to the newly renovated Trickum building. The building is now being called "The 9th Grade Academy," as many Freshmen classes have moved to the building. In moving classes to the new building, the school has eliminated all of the nearly 70 trailers which have been scattered around the school for the past decade.
