Ops Sikap

Ops Sikap (Operation Attitude) (formerly Ops Statik) is a traffic safety operation carried out by the Royal Malaysian Police to ensure safety on all roads in Malaysia during festive seasons such as Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Deepavali, Christmas Day and Chinese New Year. This operation began in 2001 and also involves the collaboration of the Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ), Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) and the National Anti-Drugs Agency (NADA).

Main objective

Among the main objectives, including:

  • to ensure safety on all roads in Malaysia during festive seasons.
  • to reduce road accidents during festive seasons.
  • to monitor all accident area prones in expressways, federal roads, state roads, municipal roads and other roads.

Measures

Among the steps taken during Ops Sikap, including:

  • special monitoring of express bus
  • monitoring using a patrol car is not marked and the observer in the police observation tower highway
  • reduce speed limits on federal roads (90 km/h to 80 km/h) and state roads (80 km/h to 70 km/h)
  • restrict heavy vehicles from the road on certain days
