Elektrogorsk ( _ru. Электрого́рск; lit. "electric city") is a town in
Moscow Oblast ,Russia , located some 88 km east ofMoscow . Population: 20,400 (2005 est.); 20,353 (2002 Census); 18,391 (1989 Census).Elektrogorsk was founded in 1912 due to the construction of the first big
peat power station in Russia, which would be called "Elektroperedacha" (" _ru. Электропередача", lit. "electricity transmission "). The settlement was named after the power station.
