27 July 1949 inObrenovac ,Yugoslavia (Serbia ). He is a Serbian politician of conservative views who was the Minister of Justice in the Serbian government of the DOS from 2000 to 2003. It was during this time, in early 2001 when Batić as Justice Minister announced that warrants would be made for the arrests of former persons in power before the October 5 uprising of 2000 who were suspected of misconduct through abuse of power. It was this campaign which eventually led to the surrender ofSlobodan Milošević to Yugoslav police as an alternative to forced arrest, and the first step to his extradition toThe Hague . He graduted from theUniversity of Belgrade Faculty of Law .In 2004 he ran for Serbian Presidency in the election. He is currently President of the
Democratic Christian Party of Serbia .Batić came anew into international news media attention when he testified before a
Nicosia court that billions of dollars belonging to theSerbian people had been smuggled out of the country by the oustedMilošević administration during theU.N. embargo on the country, by use of offshore corporations inCyprus registered by the former law office of the Greek Cypriot leader,Tassos Papadopoulos . Batić had been pursuing the affair for many years.
