Warner Robins, Georgia . It was founded in 1991 and is part of theHouston County School System .The school is known for using
technology heavily in their curriculum and the entire school is wireless. They also have notable football, basketball, soccer and tennis teams, as well as anAFJROTC unit: GA-932 .Awards
Houston County High School has won many awards. In 2004 they were named Best of the Best as a school of distinction. They are also a National School of Excellence. Houston County is also one of twenty schools who have been named Twenty-First Century School of Distinction. HOCO's dance team also won first place in the 2007 Houston County Dance Competition. The high school also has a successful volleyball team, the lady bears.
Band
The school's band, the Black and Silver Brigade, is known for both its size and talent. As of 2006, the football marching band has 270 students and a competitive marching band of 170 students. There are also four concert bands and two jazz bands, as well as a percussion ensemble.
The Black and Silver Brigade has also performed in many places, including the Phenix Invitational Marching Festival, East Georgia Marching Festival and Championships, Spirit of Georgia Marching Band Invitational, the Heart of Georgia Marching Invitational, the Sugar Bowl, the Thanksgiving Parade in Philadelphia, Marshall Field's Christmas Parade, State Street Thanksgiving Parade, and at the grand opening of the Museum of Arts in Science in Tampa, Florida. They were designated as Goodwill Ambassadors when they performed in Freeport, Grand Bahamas.
The Director is Mr. Wally Shaw and assistant band director Mr. Todd Wilson.
In October 2007, the Houston County Competition Band competed in their hometown competition at the Heart of Georgia, hosted by Warner Robins High School in Warner Robins, Georgia. The band competed against over 25 bands to claim Grand Champion, their first in several years.
