Sandy Creek High School or SCHS is located in Tyrone, Georgia, United States.

Sandy Creek serves Tyrone, northern Fayetteville, and small northern portions of Fairburn and Peachtree City. It opened in 1991 with approximately 400 students in order to relieve overcrowding at Fayette County High School and McIntosh High School.

Today, the school has 1,305 students enrolled in grades 9-12 and is accredited by the Southern Association of High Schools and Colleges.

In 2004 it was a Georgia School of Excellence, and is a Blue Ribbon School. They have one the highest SAT averages in the state at about 1040 out of 1600. The class of 2007 scored the highest scores in Fayette County.

In recent years, Sandy Creek has become known for its successful sports programs with many alumni having received Division I athletic scholarships, with several even playing professionally. 2000 State Cheerleading Champions, 2004-2005 Football Region Champions, 1997 & 2005 Boys Basketball Semi-Finalist, and Multiple State Track Championships

Basketball

The Sandy Creek basketball team made it the Final Four in 1997 and 2005. SCHS retired the Jersey of #23 L.T. Lockett, one of the most prolific scorers in Georgia HS history, in 2001. D-I basketball players include John Beckett (Georgia State University), L.T. Lockett (Middle TN State University/NBA summer league 2006/2007) In the 2007-2008 season, the Sandy Creek boys basketball team made it to the sweet 16 and the girls basketball team made it to the elite 8.

Baseball

Brent Brewer was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers with the 60th pick of the 2006 MLB Draft.Blake Brewer was also selected in the 2008 MLB Draft by the Florida Marlins. D-I baseball players include Jay Fields, Dusty Bennett(2004), Rusty Bennett(2001) (Georgia State University). Dusty Bennett was an All-Academic selection for both the Atlantic Sun Conference and the Colonial Athletic Conference. His older brother Rusty was a Freshman All-America selection by TPX, he was also a 1st Team All-Conference selection while playing in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Brian Jordan (1994) played college baseball at Gordon Junior College, and Georgia College and State University. Drafted in 1995 by the Houston Astros.

In Spring 2007, for the first time in school history, both the Sandy Creek boys and girls soccer teams made the state playoffs. The boys team achieved a #4 seed and the girls won the #3 seed in Region 6-AAA. The boys team has made the state playoffs each of the last 3 years.

The Sandy Creek Swimming Patriots have an outstanding swimming program, coached by Evans Martin.

Zach Payne signed with Western Kentucky for a swimming scholarship in 2008
