Established in 1952 by the Manav Vikas Viyalaya Trust in Kolkata, India, Vikas Vidyalaya is a boarding school providing education for boys. The school was inaugurated by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the-then president of India, in the year 1952.

Spread over an area of 200 acres, the school is situated on the Ranchi-Patna Highway at a distance of 15 km from the Railway station ,35 km from Ramgarh Railway station and 20 km from the airport. It is in the outskirts of Ranchi. the capital of Jharkhand More than 50 acres are occupied by the School complex consisting of a three-storey Academic block, Science laboratories, Workshops, Hobby centres, Library & Art block, four boarding houses, Temple, Gymnasium Hall - Auditorium, Swimming pool, Rifleshooting range, An Open Air Theatre, Central Dinning Hall, etc. The School is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education New Delhi ,for All India Secondary School and Senior School Certificate Examinations. It has classes from III to XII. The current principal is B.J.rodrigues.
