Custom Coasters International (CCI) was one of the premier wooden roller coaster manufacturers in the world and produced more wooden coasters in recent times than any other company [1]. Founded by Denise Dinn Larrick (daughter of coaster designer Charles Dinn, founder of Dinn Corporation) and Randy Larrick in 1991, Custom Coasters International went on to design 34 wooden coasters, some of which still remain very highly rated. CCI coasters are known for their speed and aggressive intensity. [2]
CCI filed for bankruptcy in 2002 while still building the New Mexico Rattler at Cliff's Amusement Park. Cliff's was left with a half completed coaster and had to complete the ride themselves. Owner Denise Larrick has since moved on to create a wooden coaster division at S&S Power, while the four remaining designers for CCI (Larry Bill, Chad Miller, Korey Kiepert, and Michael Graham) founded The Gravity Group in 2002. [3] Other coaster designers Dennis McNulty and Mike Boodley left CCI prior to the company going bankrupt, and Boodley would eventually start Great Coasters International.
