The station is located in the
Fawkner Crematorium and Memorial Park , west ofSydney Road , with station access from the pedestrian crossing from the station's car park.The station consists of two
side platforms : Platform 1 (Flinders Street bound) has a small steel shelter, while platform 2 (Upfield bound) has a semi-large fibro building. A largeMetcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 1, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. A small coin-only Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 2. A former mortuary van is situated next to platform 2.History
The station opened on
October 8 1889 . It closed in 1903 and reopened in 1906 as "Fawkner Cemetery", and was renamed "Fawkner" in 1914.
