Fawkner is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in the suburb of Hadfield, on the Upfield railway line. Fawkner is unmanned and is in Metcard Zones 1+2 overlap.

Facilities

The station is located in the Fawkner Crematorium and Memorial Park, west of Sydney Road, with station access from the pedestrian crossing from the station's car park.

The station consists of two side platforms: Platform 1 (Flinders Street bound) has a small steel shelter, while platform 2 (Upfield bound) has a semi-large fibro building. A large Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 1, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. A small coin-only Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 2. A former mortuary van is situated next to platform 2.

History

The station opened on October 8 1889. It closed in 1903 and reopened in 1906 as "Fawkner Cemetery", and was renamed "Fawkner" in 1914.
