East Malvern is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, located in the suburb of Malvern East, on the Glen Waverley railway line. East Malvern is classed as a Premium Station and is in Metcard Zones 1+2 overlap.

Facilities

The station is located in between Sylvester Cresent and the Monash Freeway, with station access from Sylvester Cresent.

The station consists of two side platforms: Platform 1 (citybound) has a large brick building with an enclosed waiting room, indoor ticket office and toilets, while platform 2 (Glen Waverley bound) has a smaller brick building. A large Metcard machine is located inside the waiting room, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. A small Metcard machine is located at the entrance to platform 2. A footbridge is situated at the DOWN end of the station.

History

East Malvern station opened on February 3 1929 as "Eastmalvern". It was later renamed to "East Malvern" in 1972. It was upgraded to Premium Station status on August 21 1995.cite journal
