radio station based in theFort Worth, Texas , area. The station is licensed toAzle, Texas , with a transmitter site located north ofDecatur, Texas .History
These call letters were first selected by
Tony Rodriguez son of Spanish Radio PioneerMarcos Rodriguez, Sr. and assigned to 104.9 FM in Dallas. It is owned and operated by
Liberman Broadcasting , aSpanish-language media company, which bought out some of Entravision's radio assetts onAugust 4 ,2006 . [cite news |url=http://dallas.bizjournals.com/dallas/stories/2006/07/31/daily42.html |title=Calif. media company to buy Dallas radio stations |work=Dallas Business Journal |date=2006-07-31] Before KTCY-FM was bought by Liberman Broadcasting, the station played the same Spanish-language pop music but with different DJs and programming. On May, 12, 2007, the station's branding name was changed from "Concierto 101.7" to the branding name "XO 101.7". Prior to "Concierto" name, the station used "SuperEstrella 101.7". The station continues to be operated by Libermann and with the same DJ's and programming but under a new name. "Concierto 101.7"'s" solgan was "La música se escucha mejor, en Concierto! 101.7!" Now, the station's slogan is "La música romantica de tu generación, XO, 101 punto 7." However, since May of 2008, the station's slogan has been "La música de tu generación".Programming
The station's programming consists of Spanish-language adult-alternative rock and pop music 24 hours a day with DJ's from 6am-12am on weekdays (Mondays-Fridays) only, and live shows on Friday evenings at 'Discotecas' like Escape 2009 and Jaro Café in Dallas, where live DJ mixes of songs usually played on the radio station are played throught the night.
In the morning, "Yogi, el oso de la mañana" is broadcasted, while in the afternoons "Los Clasicos de XO" broadcasts without a DJ, classic spanish language pop music.
The station's broadcast language is Castilian (Spanish), but since the beginning of 2008, English language commercials are being broadcasted. The majority of the station's DJ's are from Mexico and speaking only Spanish, unlike other Libberman owned Spanish-language stations who are directed toward Spanish speakers, but have English speaking DJ's, like in La Casa 106.7 and Univision Radio's La Calle 99.1.
