It returned one Member of Parliament to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.
The constituency was created for the 1885 general election, and abolished for the 1950 general election. However, a new Nottingham West constituency was created for the 1955 general election, and was in turn abolished for the 1983 general election.
The Sixth Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies proposes recreating the constituency as the only constituency wholly within the City of Nottingham.[1]
Nottingham West is the fictional constituency of protagonist Sarah Cane in David Belbin's novel Bone & Cane.
