It was founded in 1723 AD by Bhavsinhji Gohil (1703-64 AD) and was named after its founder and ruler. It was capital of Bhavnagar State which was the first princely state to merge with the democratic Indian Union in 1948.

Nari is a very beautiful village in the Bhavnagar district of Gujarat, India with approximately 16,000 people. The residents are mainly involved in agriculture and the diamond business. It is well known for its very sound educational institutions nearby.

Nari has three best schools among the region. A K Moradia High School is believed to be one of the best Secondary School in Bhavanagar District. Teaching Staff at A K Moradia High School is well known in Bhavanagar district.
