Cambridge Broadband

Cambridge Broadband is a manufacturer of carrier-class broadband wireless transmission equipment, namely the VectaStar product line. The product operates in licensed 3.5 GHz, 10.5 GHz and 26 GHz (24.5–26.5 GHz) spectrum bands and, due to its very high capacity, is mostly intended as a backhaul for GSM cell sites, WiFi hotspots, FWA base stations, etc. VectaStar utilizes FDD radio technology and a sophisticated ATM transport model and is capable of delivering as much as 240 Mbit/s full-duplex per base station.

Cambridge Broadband is headquartered, as the name implies, in Cambridge, England and was founded in January 2000 by Stewart Hyde, Damian Gilmurray, Steve Greaves, Andy Hopper, Oliver Mason, Alistair Massarella, John Naylon, Melvyn Noakes, David Pegler, John Porter, and Peter Wharton.

The same team previously founded Adaptive Broadband (now www.axxcelera.com), a spin-off from Olivetti & Oracle Research Lab, Cambridge, England.
